31 Days: Baby of the Year

I am officially throwing my name in the hat for Baby of the Year. Here’s why I believe I should win.

First, clearly I am adorable. Try to argue with me – I dare you.

31Days60

Second, I’m five and a half weeks old and I’m sleeping anywhere from 6-7 hours a night regularly. Last night I slept 9 hours because I was feeling generous and deemed Mom-lady worthy of a nighttime reprieve.

31Day62

Third, I’ve put on two pounds since birth. I’m now in the double digits, and that’s without eating throughout the night.

31Day61

Finally…did I mention I’m cute?

31Day64

I’ve got this title in the bag.

31DaysmdThis month, I’m linking up with The Nesterfor this 31 Day series as I survive the newborn haze of sleepless nights, endless nursing, and squeezing in life in twenty minute increments throughout the day. If you want to receive the posts directly in your email inbox, just leave your email address in the box on the sidebar, and subscribe so you don’t miss a post!

I’ll share photos every day, some of them good, and some of them mediocre, because baby leaves me little time to worry about taking and editing the perfect photos.

I’ll also be sharing my daughter’s thoughts, as dictated to me telepathically while she nurses, because she has informed me that she is a mind ninja, and I am merely her portal to the outside world.

Her words, not mine.

31 Days: The Pros and Cons of Allume

I’ve decided that the conference life is not really for me. While mom-lady seems to be have a slam-bang time, I am more exhausted than anything else. Blogger ladies are noisy. They are also a verbose bunch, and when they all cackle at the same time it sounds like an explosion of joy, which one would think would be a delightful sound, but when you’re in a dead sleep it sends you into spasms of fear.

There are a few pros to attending a conference with mom-lady, though. First, I have been held almost non-stop. Mom-lady has been the primary holder, but when her arms started to tremble under my weight, there were an abundance of other mom-ladies here who gladly offered to take me for her.

It’s been a snuggle fest this week in Greenville, South Carolina.

31day49

The other pro is that mom-lady finally started feeding me more. Maybe it was to shut me up. Hard to say. In any case, it’s about time she upped the formula because I WAS STARVING TO DEATH.

Seriously – yesterday afternoon I almost died in the two minute that it took her to prepare my bottle. I saw my entire life flash before my eyes.

The cons lie firmly in the fact that I am exhausted. Just when I get into a deep sleep, the blogger ladies start applauding something or other, or someone starts playing music, or mom-lady decides to scratch her nose and jostles me awake.

31day48

The nerve.

It’s been a lovely adventure, but I’m ready to go home. And judging by the way mom-lady and her friend seem to have lost their minds, I think it’s time we all got back to normal.

My mom is strange.

31 Days: All About That Bass

Who has two thumbs and put on over a pound in two weeks?

31day46

This girl!

31day49

I’m all about that bass. No treble.

31day47

Cause I’ve got all the right chunk in all the right places.

31day48

You’re singing the song now, aren’t you…

You’re welcome.

31 Days: Leaving on a Jet Plane

Today I am officially one month old.

31Day44

To celebrate, mom-lady took me to the doctor yesterday and let them shove a sharp needle into my thigh.

She needs to work on her party planning skills.

I have better plans to celebrate the 30 days since my birth. I am taking my first airplane ride. I’m braving the elements, and all that is in this big, bad world so that I can have an adventure. I’m bringing mom-lady along for the ride because I’m generous like that.

31day45

Mom-lady and I are headed to the Allume conference. I’ll try to blog while I’m there, but you know…I’ll be busy hobnobbing with all the blogger ladies. They’ll probably want to know all my secrets to becoming such a successful blogger at such a young age.

I plan to “Allume-inate them.”

See what I did there?

I’m so stinking clever, it’s scary.

31 Days: The Magical Beach

We went to the beach yesterday. At first I was completely unimpressed. In my defense, mom-lady kept me up for hours the night before, so I was extremely tired. I wanted to nap, but mom-lady insisted that we take pictures at the beach, because apparently there’s something magical about the sand and that gigantic body of water called “The Ocean.”

31day40

If it’s anything like the swimming pool, then they can take their ocean and shove it.

31day39

Anyway, mom-lady let all the bigger kids take turns holding me, which basically felt like I was being passed like a hot potato from one person to the next.

Side note: I’m really looking forward to the day when I can hold my head up on my own. Even more than that, I’m looking forward to becoming mobile so that I can flee these little family photo sessions.

I did my obligatory fussing as they passed me around, but then mom-lady put me down in the sand and OH MY GOSH THE BEACH REALLY IS MAGICAL!!!

31day41

I laid on my blanket and tiny fairies danced before my eyes. Suddenly the sky sparkled, and the sound of the ocean in the background filled me with such rapturous joy that I could have stayed there for hours.

31day42

I hear that being born in Florida allows me full use of the title “beach baby.” I will wear that crown proudly. Indeed, I will happily spend my days from here on out in the powdery sand.

31day43

I have found my happy place.
